This unspoilt island has it all: beautiful untouched nature, the cleanest sea in the Mediterranean, fantastic sceneries, pebble beaches and lonely coves. It is wild and gentle at the same time, with tasteful food and excellent wine.
Two large settlements, Vis and Komiza are tranquil and picturesque, with few top quality restaurants and rich history visible on every step. In the middle, you will find vineyards, olive fields, old villages and agricultural households.
Komiža is the place where fishing on the east coast of the Adriatic was born. Its fishermen not only ruled the Adriatic with their boats and traded fish with the neighboring coast, but also created fishing centers on the Pacific coasts of both Americas as emigrants.
The area around Vis is known for its offshore islands (Brusnik, Sv. Andrija, Jabuka, Palagruža), some of which are habitats of Mediterranean seals.
